New Year, New Look

Hello everyone,

Usually a new year starts with resolutions and changes but I have never been in the habit of establishing resolutions or expecting many changes with the coming of the new year… until 2017 that is 🙂

This year I have established 3 goals I would like to achieve:

1 – Lose some weight and actually do some exercise. Trivial, I know, but I’m starting to feel more like my mother than myself and that will not do! Let’s face it, I’ll never be a model and that is definitely not my intention, but continuously buying new clothes because the old ones are too tight cannot continue to happen, my budget won’t allow it!

2- Spend less time at the office, and obviously gain more time to read, sleep, write and whatever gives me pleasure 🙂

3 – A very personal goal I will disclose with you if I do achieve it 😉 I know it sounds superstitious, but we never know 🙂

As for changes, I’m not changing my hair color, buy a new house or find a new job, but…I will change the face of From Pemberley to Milton!

I started this blog more for myself then for others, so I never really thought about getting a special e-mail address, twitter account or Facebook page. I’m still not doing that because my readers already know who I am, how to contact me etc,  and I’m not someone who likes major changes, I’m a “fear the unknown” kind of girl, but there was something that kept bothering me and I’ve finally decided to do something about it. From Pemberley to Milton didn’t have a logo!

So my big change for 2017 was to get a logo that would be the face of From Pemberley to Milton.

I came up with the idea, but I’m not that good with editing programs, so I asked my brother in law to help and he actually presented me with the logo in no time. He was impeccable and I couldn’t have done without him, so thank you, thank you, thank you David!

But I’ve been talking about it (or writing if you wish) and I haven’t even shown you the logo, so without further ado, here it is the new look of From Pemberley to Milton:

What do you think about it? I so hope you like it! I personally love it and I think it has everything to do with my blog, but I truly wish my readers will like it too and that you will remember it when thinking of From Pemberley to Milton. As I said, I’m not a big fan of changes, so I might not change it in the near future…or ever 🙂

    Rita,I adore it!!!! 😉

From Pemberley to Milton is so aptly represented by our beloved Mr Darcy and John Thornton and where else would they be situated but on the pages of a book!! I love the font used in the name and the quill adds the definite touch!

    Fantastic idea!!! 🎉🍾

Best of luck in 2017 with your new logo and with your resolutions too!☺️

Very appropriate logo for the name of your blog…actually ‘perfect’! Congratulations to you and your brother-in-law!

Good luck with the goals you have set. Getting into an exercise routine is hard to do at first because there are days you don’t just don’t feel like it! However, even on those days when you do feel like that and you do push yourself to go, you are so proud of yourself for doing it and you wind up having more energy and feeling so much better for it! I know because I make a point of going 4x a week and there are days when I’d rather not! It not only helps in the ‘maintenance department’ but the ‘feel good department’ loves it! (Boy were those some run-on sentences!)

As for technology, I am all for it but you wont find me on Facebook or Twitter. I pushed myself last year to join Goodreads and the challenge but I’m still not a fan of Facebook…I just find it invasive on so many levels.

Well this is about you and your goals…shoot for the stars!

  6. I should make the same resolutions about exercise. It’s just SO much more fun to sit down and write! *sigh*

Your unspoken New Year’s resolution has me VERY curious. You can’t throw that kind of thing out there and not expect people to start guessing, you know. The rumors will be far more scandalous than the truth!

I love your logo, very appropriate. I guess we don’t need to ask whether you are in the CF or MM camp! Good luck with your blog in 2017, and thank you for all you do to support writers and readers alike.

Those are great goals. Ha, and see, I’m the opposite with my mom being the healthy one so if only I could turn into her. 🙂 I like your plans to make more time for your pleasures after work.

Oh yes, your brother in law did well. I think your new logo really speaks to what your blog is all about. You’ve designed a good one.

Good luck with your goals for the new year! I made some for myself, and I’m hoping that I keep up with them.

Best of luck with the three goals and lots of hugs, though for the life of me I can’t figure out why you think you need to lose weight!!!!! You look stunning! All for less time for the office and more for the good things in life.
Hugs and a very happy New Year!!

  12. I love it!!! It is great and both men facing each other, it would be an awesome “duel”!!

I have been thinking about a logo for mine but my ideas are… let’s say just ridiculous! Something will be eventually done.

    I am waiting fofr number 3 😀

  15. Simply loving the logo, Rita. It’s simple and elegant and says everything we need to know about your blog.

CF and RA literally in a face off! (i’m a CF girl, too, by the way). Or really, it should be FD and JT, shouldn’t it? Our two most favourite romantic heroes. Your brother-in-law is a very clever chap.

Well done on setting your goals for the year. I’m trying to lose the weight I put on last year when my bad back curtailed my activity severely, so we have a common goal there. I have to be careful with the exercise though – no gym workouts for me just yet! As my back prevented a lot of sitting down, my reading time was also a lot less than I would have wished so I’m also hoping to remedy that too this year.

Good luck with achieving your goals, especially the ,ysteriois third one!

  16. Great logo, Rita! And how sweet that your brother-in-law helped you with it!

I’m like you, I don’t like change too much most of the time. 🙂 Best of luck with all your goals this year!!

Here I am half a year later reading this blog. Love the logo but I would have Jamie Fraser somewhere in the middle, also… ; ) Hope all those goals have been progressing well. (I get so many e-mailed blogs that I tend to ignore them when I am reading a good book. But sometimes I take a day from reading to open and peruse the blogs…like today.)

Jamie Fraser.. Hum, never thought about that but he would be a good addition 😉
Thanks for by today and happy reading 🙂
